This is a season of celebration and renewal.
In our last post we shared the process of tuning the steelpan which is one of the artifacts in our museum, a connection to aspects of the history and heritage of the University of the West Indies and of the region it serves, and a recent example of one of Trinidad & Tobago’s gifts to the world.
This week we share a snippet of Christmas music played on the same pan.
This music was played soon after the pan came into the museum, by tenor pannist Kerel Warrick, then a student at the UWI Mona campus and a member of the university’s Panoridim Steel Orchestra.
Our thanks to Kerel for playing the pan, to David Aarons for recently re-tuning it, to the University Archives Media Lab for producing this video card and to all those who have volunteered or assisted the museum in any way during 2016. Best wishes for the season and for 2017 to all our visitors and supporters.
